Golf 5 MAX Tees Off on PC via Steam on 2 November 2026

Arcade golf is making a comeback on PC. Golf 5 MAX, the retro-inspired spinoff of the Golf 5 VR simulator series, launches on Steam on Monday, 2 November 2026. It’s developed by LENYA DIGITAL and published by AAA Game Studios, and it takes the VR series in a flat-screen, pick-up-and-play direction.

The Steam page sums it up as retro arcade golf meeting real physics. Think the old-school arcade golf games you’d sink an afternoon into, but with a modern physics model under the hood.

Seven 18-Hole Courses From Tropical Dunes to Autumn Greens

Golf 5 MAX ships with seven original 18-hole courses. Each one has its own character, and the screenshots back that up: there’s a palm-lined tropical layout with bright blue water, a desert course with an island green surrounded by dunes and an autumn course with a pagoda in the background. You’ll smack drivers into the fairway and finesse every shot around natural obstacles.

You can play classic 9-hole or 18-hole rounds if you just want a relaxed session, but the arcade modes are where the spinoff tries to set itself apart.

Course variety matters a lot in a golf game, and seven full 18-hole layouts is a healthy count for a launch. The fairways, bunkers and water hazards look clean and readable in the screenshots, which is exactly what you want when you’re lining up a long approach shot and trying to judge the wind.

Eight Golfers and Five Skills to Level Up

There are eight up-and-coming golf stars to pick from, and each one has unique strengths and weaknesses. After every round you earn skill points and spend them RPG-style to build the golfer you want. The Steam page lists five skills to invest in: Power for distance, Technique for spin, Consistency for control, Accuracy for aim and Recovery for getting out of trouble.

The character select screen leans hard into the retro theme, with trading-card style golfer profiles. I love that touch. Golf games live or die on whether you care about your player, and a progression system tied to a roster of personalities is a smart way to get there.

Birdie or Bust and Time Attack Modes

The headline mode is Birdie or Bust. It’s built to revive the glory days of arcade golf: only the best scores advance to the next round, so every hole is all or nothing. If you’d rather play fast, Time Attack pushes you to get round the course at a lightning pace.

Both modes sound like a good fit for short sessions. One more hole, one more try, that kind of loop.

It’s also worth remembering where this game comes from. The Golf 5 VR series is a simulator, so the physics side has a solid base to build on. Golf 5 MAX keeps that responsive ball physics and wraps it in a brighter, faster arcade package with colorful menus and a bold retro look.

Online Play for Up to Four and eGolf Federation Tournaments

Multiplayer is covered too. You can team up or compete with friends online across several game modes, with the Steam page listing support for up to four players. There are also global tournaments and rankings, and the PR team says you can climb the leaderboards in official International eGolf Federation tournaments.

Golf 5 MAX is coming to PC only, via Steam. It will cost $12.99. If you want a taste before launch, there’s a free demo on Steam right now, and the full game tees off on 2 November 2026.
