GOALS Open Grand Finals Hit Stockholm This Weekend With a €10,000 Prize Pool

GOALS is about to have its first real esports moment, and it’s happening in Stockholm this Saturday. The free-to-play football game runs its inaugural GOALS Open Grand Finals on 12 September, and the 12 players who fought through a month of regional qualifying are all that’s left standing.

On the line is a 10,000 euro prize pool split among the finalists. It’s the first major competitive event in GOALS’ young esports scene, and the studio is treating it like a proper debut.

Two groups of six, then a knockout run

The 12 finalists get drawn into two groups of six. The top four from each group move into a round-of-eight playoff. The next four drop into the semi-finals, which sort out the bronze medal match and the two players heading to the grand final. It’s a tight, single-weekend format with no room to coast.

Those 12 didn’t come from nowhere. GOALS opened the Open to the whole world back in August, running pre-qualifiers and regional finals across three regions: Europe and Africa, the Americas, and Asia, the Middle East and Pacific. Win your region, book your seat in Stockholm.

Kick-off times and where to stream

Group-stage games kick off at 10:00 CEST on Saturday. If you’re reading this in New Zealand or Australia, that’s a friendly local window: roughly 6:00pm AEST and 8:00pm NZST, so you can catch it over dinner instead of at 3am. It’s all streaming live on the official GOALS Twitch and YouTube channels. No ticket, no paywall, just turn up.

GOALS’ first competitive step

GOALS has pitched itself from day one as a skill-first football game built around fair competition and balanced gameplay, which is exactly what a competitive scene needs to stand on. A clean, global, open qualifier feeding into a single-city grand final is a strong first statement. Whether it grows into something bigger depends on what comes after Stockholm, but as opening moves go, a worldwide bracket and a five-figure pool is a confident one. We’ll be watching to see who lifts the first-ever GOALS Open title.
