G2 Esports Win LEC 2026 Summer for 20th LEC Title With 3-0 Sweep of Movistar KOI

G2 Esports have won their 20th LEC title, sweeping Movistar KOI 3-0 in the LEC 2026 Summer grand final at the Palais Nikaïa in Nice on 20 September. No other organisation has won Europe’s top-flight League of Legends competition as many times, and the result sends G2 to Worlds 2026 next month as the LEC’s first seed.

It was also G2’s fourth consecutive LEC title and the final piece of a domestic Golden Road, the name for winning every LEC split in a single year, after the team took LEC Versus and the Spring Split earlier in 2026. G2 last managed that in 2024. Support Lampros “Labrov” Papoutsakis was named Finals MVP, while mid laner Rasmus “Caps” Borregaard Winther moved to 18 LEC titles, the most by any player in the league’s history.
How G2 Swept Movistar KOI in the LEC Summer Final
The grand final took less than 90 minutes of game time. G2 closed out game one in just under 28 minutes, game two in around 31, and game three in roughly 29. It was a rematch of the 2025 Summer final, which G2 also won 3-0.
| Role | Player |
|---|---|
| Top | Sergen “BrokenBlade” Çelik |
| Jungle | Rudy “SkewMond” Semaan |
| Mid | Rasmus “Caps” Borregaard Winther |
| Bot | Steven “Hans Sama” Liv |
| Support | Lampros “Labrov” Papoutsakis |
The finalists reached Nice by very different routes. G2 went 6-3 in the regular season and finished third, behind Karmine Corp and Team Vitality, then needed only two playoff series to reach the final, beating both of those teams on the way. Movistar KOI finished outside the top four and had to win three series in the lower bracket, the last of them a 3-0 sweep of home favourites Karmine Corp. That run was MKOI’s first grand final appearance of the year.
| Team | Round | Opponent | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| G2 Esports | Upper bracket semifinal | Team Vitality | Won 3-0 |
| G2 Esports | Upper bracket final | Karmine Corp | Won 3-1 |
| Movistar KOI | Lower bracket quarterfinal | Team Vitality | Won 3-2 |
| Movistar KOI | Lower bracket semifinal | Natus Vincere | Won 3-1 |
| Movistar KOI | Lower bracket final | Karmine Corp | Won 3-0 |
Labrov Named Finals MVP With Two Deaths Across the Series
Finals MVP rarely goes to a support player, but Labrov gave the voters little choice. He died only twice in three games, both times in game two, while rotating through enchanter and artillery picks.
| Game | Champion | Kills/Deaths/Assists |
|---|---|---|
| Game 1 | Seraphine | 2/0/12 |
| Game 2 | Lulu | 2/2/18 |
| Game 3 | Lux | 3/0/4 |
| Series total | Three champions | 7/2/34 |
Added together, that works out to a KDA ratio (kills plus assists, divided by deaths) of 20.5 for the series. Labrov and SkewMond both joined G2 after the 2024 season, when the organisation parted ways with jungler Martin “Yike” Sundelin and support Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle. SkewMond’s standout moment came earlier this year at First Stand, where G2 swept LCK sides BNK FEARX and Gen.G. This final was Labrov’s turn.

Caps, Perkz, and G2’s Record 2026 Season
Caps now has 18 LEC titles and an MSI trophy, widening his lead as the most decorated player in the league. He was inducted into the Hall of Legends this year, the first European player to receive that honour.
The title also belongs to a new name on the bench. G2 replaced head coach Dylan Falco with former mid laner Luka “Perkz” Perković this year, and Summer is Perkz’s ninth LEC title overall and his first as a coach.
G2 lifted their first trophy in 2016, when the league was still the EU LCS. Twenty of the 28 titles on offer since then have gone to G2, more than seven in every ten. Across all three LEC splits in 2026, the team didn’t lose a single playoff series.
| 2026 Event | G2 Result |
|---|---|
| LEC 2026 Versus | Champions |
| First Stand (March) | Champions |
| Esports World Cup EMEA qualifier (May) | Won |
| LEC 2026 Spring (June) | Champions |
| Mid-Season Invitational (July) | 4th |
| Esports World Cup (July) | 9th to 12th |

G2 Head to Worlds 2026 as Europe’s First Seed
Worlds 2026 runs from 15 October to 14 November in the United States. The Play-In stage will be held at the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles, Allen, Texas hosts the Swiss Stage, quarterfinals, and semifinals, and the final is set for the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
G2 lead three LEC representatives, alongside runners-up Movistar KOI and third-placed Karmine Corp. All three skip the Play-In and start in the Swiss Stage, which runs from 23 to 31 October.
Last year, G2 reached the quarterfinals before losing 3-1 to Chinese side Top Esports, finishing 5th to 8th. The LEC hasn’t taken a playoff series off this roster all year, but the two international events since Spring ended in fourth at MSI and 9th to 12th at the Esports World Cup, which makes July the better guide to G2’s chances in the US than anything that happened in Nice. No European team has won Worlds since Fnatic took the first edition in 2011.
