Nintendo has lifted the lid on a brand new trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, giving fans their best look yet at Yoshi on the big screen, confirming several classic characters, and quietly shifting the film’s global release date forward.

The reveal came during a surprise Nintendo Direct hosted by Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, offering fresh story teases and a clearer sense of how the sequel will build on the smash hit 2023 animated film.

Mario And Luigi Head Back Into Adventure

The presentation opened with an extended desert sequence showing Mario and Luigi riding motorbikes through a landscape inspired by Super Mario Odyssey’s Sand Kingdom. The brothers arrive at the inverted pyramid, a location instantly familiar to longtime players, where they are tasked with unblocking a mysterious Warp Pipe.

Armed with Fire Flowers, Mario and Luigi venture underground, accompanied by the iconic Mario cave theme. What they find inside the pipe is not a hostile enemy, but Yoshi himself, marking the character’s long awaited proper debut.

Yoshi Finally Steps Into The Spotlight

Rather than charging straight into action, Yoshi is initially portrayed as nervous and wary of the brothers. As the trailer progresses, it becomes clear the green dinosaur quickly becomes part of the group.

Yoshi is shown mumbling a few words and calling out his own name, giving fans their first hint at how the character will sound in the film. Nintendo has not yet revealed who is providing Yoshi’s voice.

His appearance follows directly from the post credits scene of the first movie, which teased a green Yoshi egg beginning to hatch.

Birdo, Mouser And Lakitu Join The Cast

A fast paced montage introduces several deep cut characters from Mario history. Birdo is seen furiously firing eggs at Princess Peach, who deflects the attack with her parasol. In the same sequence, fans briefly spot Mouser, a boss character best known from Super Mario Bros. 2.

The pairing is a neat nod to Subcon, the dream world setting of that game, and hints that Peach may be handling her own side mission while Mario and Luigi explore elsewhere.

The trailer also confirms Lakitu’s big screen debut, pelting Mario, Luigi and Yoshi with projectiles from the sky.

Frog Suit Luigi And A Very Strange Finale

Another highlight sees Luigi wearing the classic Frog Suit Power Up as he rescues a Toad swallowed by a giant Cheep Cheep. The final moments of the trailer take a stranger turn, showing Yoshi clutching a weapon resembling the SNES Super Scope, while Toad holds Baby Mario and Baby Luigi.

The group then faces off against a T Rex that looks lifted straight from Super Mario Odyssey, leaving plenty of questions about flashbacks, timelines, and just how weird things are about to get.

Movie Now In Post Production

Nintendo confirmed that animation on The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has been fully completed. According to Illumination boss Chris Meledandri, the film has now entered post production, with work continuing on sound and music.

Themes from the Super Mario Galaxy games are being re recorded for the soundtrack using a 70 piece orchestra, signalling a strong focus on the series’ iconic music.

No New Voice Cast Announcements Yet

Despite Yoshi’s reveal, Nintendo did not announce any new voice actors during the presentation. Rosalina and Bowser Jr. were also absent from this trailer, despite being highlighted in a previous Nintendo Direct.

Rosalina is confirmed to be voiced by Brie Larson, while Bowser Jr. will be voiced by Benny Safdie.

All major cast members from the first film are returning, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Earlier Global Release Date Confirmed

Illumination and Nintendo have officially moved the film’s release date forward. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will now launch in cinemas on April 1, 2026, two days earlier than originally announced.

The earlier date aligns with international release plans. The film will arrive in Japan on April 24, with other regions rolling out throughout April.

The sequel is co financed by Nintendo and Universal Pictures, directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, with a screenplay by Matthew Fogel and music composed by Brian Tyler.

With Yoshi finally in the spotlight and more classic characters confirmed, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is shaping up to be a much bigger, stranger, and more ambitious follow up.

The trailer for 20th Century Studios Predator: Killer of Killers has just released.

The original animated action-adventure film set in the Predator universe will premiere June 6, 2025, exclusively on Disney Plus.

The anthology story follows three of the fiercest warriors in human history: a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge, a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession, and a WWII pilot who takes to the sky to investigate an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause. But while all these warriors are killers in their own right, they are merely prey for their new opponent – the ultimate killer of killers.

Predator: Killer of Killers is directed by Dan Trachtenberg with Josh Wassung, from animation company The Third Floor, serving as co-director. The film stars Lindsay LaVanchy, Louis Ozawa, Rick Gonzalez, and Michael Biehn and is written by Micho Robert Rutare and story by Trachtenberg and Rutare, based on characters created by Jim Thomas & John Thomas. The producers are John Davis, Dan Trachtenberg, p.g.a., Marc Toberoff, Ben Rosenblatt, p.g.a., with Lawrence Gordon, James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas, and Stefan Grube as executive producers.

We are getting a first look at Marvel Television’s Ironheart, with the debut of a teaser trailer.

Launching exclusively on Disney+ on June 25, 2025 the new series stars Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a young, genius inventor whose iron suits rival the best in the MCU.

The character made her debut in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, directed by Ryan Coogler.

“Ironheart is such a great character in publishing,” said Coogler. “In 2016, Brian Michael Bendis created a character who would be a successor of sorts to the Iron Man legacy. In the comic book, Riri Williams and Tony Stark had a relationship—she was a student at MIT who came from an almost polar opposite background as Tony, but they came together in their passion to better society. Eventually, the character gets her own identity as Ironheart, and other writers like Eve Ewing picked up from there, taking Riri Williams to Chicago.”

Set after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ironheart pits technology against magic when Riri, determined to make her mark on the world, returns to her hometown of Chicago.

Her unique take on building iron suits is brilliant, but in pursuit of her ambitions, she finds herself wrapped up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins aka “The Hood” (Anthony Ramos).

The series also stars Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam and Anji White. Chinaka Hodge is head writer; episodes are directed by Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes. National Geographic presents TITANIC: THE DIGITAL RESURRECTION, a groundbreaking 90-minute documentary that offers an unprecedented look at history’s most infamous maritime disaster. Using exclusive access to cutting-edge underwater scanning technology, including 715,000 digitally captured images, the special unveils the most precise model of the Titanic ever created: a full-scale, 1:1 digital twin, accurate down to the rivet. In 2022, award-winning and pioneering filmmaker Anthony Geffen and his team followed deep-sea mapping company Magellan as they undertook the largest underwater 3D scanning project of its kind, mapping the wreck 12,500 feet below the North Atlantic. Over three weeks, they worked around the clock, producing 16 terabytes of data, 715,000 still images, and 4K footage, capturing the Titanic in unparalleled detail.

After nearly two years of analysis, a team of leading historians, engineers, and forensic experts, including Titanic analyst Parks Stephenson, metallurgist Jennifer Hooper, and master mariner Captain Chris Hearn, come together in TITANIC: THE DIGITAL RESURRECTION to reconstruct the ship’s final moments—challenging long-held assumptions and revealing new insights into what truly happened on that fateful night in 1912.

Stephenson, Hooper and Hearn dissect the wreckage up close on a full-scale colossal LED volume stage, walking around the ship in its final resting place. From the boiler room where engineers worked valiantly to keep the lights on until the bitter end to the first-class cabins where the ship ripped in two, the scan brings them face-to-face with where the tragedy unfolded. Notable insights include the following:

Visible Open Steam Valve

The team discovers a steam valve in the open position, validating eyewitness accounts that the ship’s engineers remained at their posts in boiler room two for over two hours after impact, keeping the electricity on and allowing wireless distress signals to be sent. The 35 men may have saved hundreds of lives while sacrificing their own.

Hull Fragments

Sifting through the hull fragments scattered across the wreck site, the team reconstructs them like a puzzle, providing a startling glimpse into the ocean liner’s final moments. The Titanic didn’t split cleanly in two—it was violently torn apart, ripping through first-class cabins where prominent passengers like J.J. Astor and Benjamin Guggenheim may have sought refuge as the ship went down.

First Officer William Murdoch

Further analysis of the digital scans adds to the evidence exonerating First Officer Murdoch, long accused of abandoning his post. The position of a lifeboat davit—seen in new hi-res detail—suggests his crew was preparing a launch moments before the starboard side was engulfed, corroborating Second Officer Charles Lightoller’s testimony that Murdoch was swept away by the sea.

The 90-minute special also examines in stunning detail the 15-square-mile debris field, rich with hundreds of personal artifacts, including pocket watches, purses, gold coins, hair combs, shoes and a shark’s tooth charm, offering a poignant glimpse into the lives lost. Historian Yasmin Khan and the team connect these items to their original owners.

Scans also reveal the wreck’s alarming deterioration, with iconic areas of the wreck already collapsing. However, thanks to this digital twin, the Titanic is preserved in perfect detail as it appeared in 2022, securing its place in history for generations to come and marking a new era in underwater archaeology.

Disney+ has just released the trailer for The Simpsons all-new holiday special ‘O C’mon All Ye Faithful’, premiering exclusively on Disney+.

Derren Brown guest stars in the holiday special, which also features musical performances from Patti LaBelle and Pentatonix. The Christmas-themed double episode is launching timed to the 35th anniversary of ‘The Simpsons’ original Christmas special which aired on December 17, 1989.

Famed British mentalist, Derren Brown, comes to Springfield and uses psychological tricks and showmanship to raise the town’s Christmas spirit. When Homer gets hypnotised and mistakenly believes he is Santa Claus, it sets off a cheery chain-reaction and causes everyone to question what they believe and to explore the meaning of ‘miracle’.

Featuring musical performances by Patti LaBelle and Pentatonix, this special double episode marks the 35th anniversary of the original Christmas special from ‘The Simpsons’ (‘Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire’) and airs exclusively on Disney+ starting December 17th, 2024.

Fresh from its world premiere at Whānau Mārama New Zealand International Film Festival and ahead of its September 12, 2024 theatrical release, the trailer for new kiwi horror film Grafted has dropped.

Shot across Auckland, New Zealand, Grafted stars new and rising actor Joyena Sun (Blood and Gold, Wait), alongside Kiwi breakout star Jess Hong (3 Body Problem, My Life is Murder, Creamerie), Eden Hart (Madam, Sweet Tooth, Creamerie) and Jared Turner (The Convert, Sweet Tooth, Power Rangers).

The film tells the story of a Chinese student (Sun) who travels to New Zealand to complete the scientific work of her deceased father, only to find a new way of achieving the popularity she so desperately craves by putting her studies to a new, and terrifying, use.  Additional casting includes Sepi To’a (The Castaways, Spontaneous Human Combustion), Ginette McDonald (Time Bandits, My Life is Murder) and Mark Mitchinson (Madam, Our Flag Means Death).

Grafted is the full-length directorial debut of award-winning Sasha Rainbow, whose short film Kamali was nominated for a BAFTA and long listed for an Academy Award. Grafted is written by Mia Maramara (Kāinga, Power Rangers), Hweiling Ow (T is for Talk, The Tattooist), Lee Murray (Aurealis, British Fantasy), and Rainbow.

Ow conceived the story from her own experience as an Asian immigrant, to create a unique coming-of-age horror story and sees Grafted as “a way to explore important themes like privilege, race, sex and cultural alienation.”

Collaborating on the final script with Murray, Rainbow says, “When I first read Grafted, I was blown away. It’s so easy to turn away, to avoid confronting what makes us uncomfortable but I love the social commentary of the themes in this film and its reflection on how society creates its own monsters.”

Grafted is brought to life by, and showcases the exceptional talent of, young female actors Joyena Sun, Jess Hong and Eden Hart, who deliver standout performances under the direction of Rainbow. “She really connects with the actor and collaborates. She wants to hear everyone’s opinion” says Sun of working with Rainbow.

The cast are supported by an experienced production team including DOP Tammy Williams (Stylebender), production designer Nathan Taare (The Hobbit trilogy, Mulan), costume designer Kyle Callanan (Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire) and make-up designer Tracey Henton (Love Me, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck).

The teaser trailer for James Mangold’s new film, A Complete Unknown has just been released.

Set in the influential New York music scene of the early 60s, A Complete Unknown follows 19-year-old Minnesota musician Bob Dylan’s (Timothée Chalamet) meteoric rise as a folk singer to concert halls and the top of the charts – his songs and mystique becoming a worldwide sensation – culminating in his groundbreaking electric rock and roll performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.

Searchlight Pictures presents A Complete Unknown, directed by Academy Award nominee James Mangold (Walk the Line, Ford v Ferrari).

Finding herself in an increasingly desperate situation, Héra, the daughter of Helm, must summon the will to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy intent on their total destruction.

With Kamiyama at the helm, the original feature is being produced by Oscar winner Philippa Boyens, from the screenwriting team behind “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” Trilogies, alongside Jason DeMarco and Joseph Chou, who, in addition to their many separate animation projects, collaborated on the “Blade Runner: Black Lotus” series. The executive producers are Fran Walsh, Peter Jackson, Sam Register, Carolyn Blackwood and Toby Emmerich.

The screenplay is by Jeffrey Addiss & Will Matthews and Phoebe Gittins & Arty Papageorgiou, story by Addiss & Matthews and Boyens, based on characters created by J.R.R. Tolkien. Catherine Laga‘aia will be voyaging to Motunui and beyond as the adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people in Disney’s upcoming live-action Moana.

“I’m really excited to embrace this character because Moana is one of my favorites,” said the 17-year-old Sydney, Australia, native. “My grandfather comes from Fa‘aala, Palauli, in Savai‘i. And my grandmother is from Leulumoega Tuai on the main island of ‘Upolu in Samoa. I’m honored to have an opportunity to celebrate Samoa and all Pacific Island peoples, and to represent young girls who look like me.”

The cast also includes Auckland, New Zealander John Tui as Moana’s no-nonsense father, Chief Tui; Samoan-New Zealand actress Frankie Adams portrays Moana’s playful and strong-willed mother, Sina; and Rena Owen, who hails from Bay of Islands, NZ, was cast as the revered Gramma Tala. Previously announced, Dwayne Johnson, who voiced larger-than-life demigod Maui in the 2016 animated version of the film, will reprise his role.

Releasing in New Zealand cinemas on July 9, 2026, “Moana” is directed by Thomas Kail, who helmed “Hamilton” on Broadway and Disney+, “Grease Live” and the first and last episodes of Hulu’s lauded limited series “We Were the Lucky Ones.” Said Kail, “I am thrilled to have met Catherine, Rena, Frankie and John through this casting process. I am humbled by this opportunity, and I cannot wait to all be on set together. And there’s no better pair to be in a canoe with than Catherine and Dwayne—actually, trio: Heihei is ready, too.”

“Moana” will bring to life in a whole new way the story of a young woman eager to pave her own path. Celebrating the islands, communities and traditions of Pacific Islanders in a spectacular adventure, the production begins filming this summer.

The new feature film is produced by Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia via their Seven Bucks Productions and Beau Flynn via FlynnPictureCo. Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote the original songs, will also serve as producer. Executive producers include Scott Sheldon of FlynnPictureCo., Auli‘i Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the 2016 film, and Charles Newirth. Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller have been tapped for the project.

Bush, a veteran of Disney Animation, wrote the screenplay for 2016’s “Moana,” and Miller is a Samoan writer who created Netflix’s “Thai Cave Rescue” and co-founded the non-profit Pasifika Entertainment Advancement Komiti (PEAK).
