Xbox Gamescom 2026 Lineup Brings 25 Playable Games With Fable and Gears of War E-Day

Twenty-five upcoming games and 140 gaming stations will fill the Xbox booth at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany, where the brand marks 25 years of play across a show running from 26 to 30 August 2026. Fable, Gears of War: E-Day, Minecraft Dungeons II, METRO 2039 and STRANGER THAN HEAVEN all reach the public for the first time there, alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and Alien: Isolation 2.

The Xbox Wire announcement sets out the booth, the broadcast schedule and the full playable list. Xbox FanFest returns alongside it, and attendees can walk through interactive experiences covering iconic moments, games and innovations from every generation of the console.

Where The Xbox Booth Is And When It Opens

The booth sits in Hall 7, booth A-0.61, with published opening hours covering four of the show’s days.

Gamescom itself opens on 26 August, a day earlier than the first published booth session, and Xbox is broadcasting from the floor on that Wednesday regardless.

The Games Getting Their First Public Hands-On

Six of the booth’s headline slots are debuts rather than repeat showings, which is the distinction that decides where the queues form.

Gears of War: E-Day covers the brutal origins of the Locust War and the start of the brotherhood between Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago, arriving two months after Gamescom on 6 October. Fable’s session is a demo theatre presentation rather than a hands-on queue, with Playground Games running live gameplay through a Hero’s journey that combines melee, ranged and magical abilities into a combat style of the player’s own making.

STRANGER THAN HEAVEN shows its combat system, which has players independently controlling the left and right sides of protagonist Makoto Daito, across three of the five Japanese cities and eras that make up the full 50-year saga. METRO 2039 puts players in the post-apocalyptic ruins of Moscow to explore, scavenge and survive, from 4A Games, ahead of a February 2027 release. Minecraft Dungeons II asks players to drop the pickaxe and grab a sword and a friend, with tougher foes and heavier loot than the first game.

Modern Warfare 4, Halo And Forza Horizon 6

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 takes the centre slot, with the franchise’s signature Core 6v6 multiplayer running on Xbox Series X and built around the fluid movement and ballistics the sub-series trades on. The demo is open both to players returning from the Early Access Beta and to those coming to it cold.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is playable as a faithful but modernised remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign, carrying updated visuals, refined gameplay and expanded combat options across the ringworld adventure that started the series. Forza Horizon 6 shows new features out of its Japan setting, including the new Drift Attack mode, along with a look at partnership collaborations landing over the following months.

How To Watch From Home

Xbox is running live broadcasts from inside the booth on YouTube and Twitch, starting at 4pm CEST on Wednesday 26 August and Thursday 27 August, carrying developer interviews, special guests, gameplay reveals and new trailers. The show will be available in American Sign Language and with English Language Audio Descriptions, with select content carried in additional languages.

Gamescom 2026 is the last major gaming showcase of the summer, and it arrives for Xbox in the middle of a year of upheaval inside the company. The booth opens in Cologne on 26 August, with the first broadcast the same afternoon.
