Gentle Mates’ Sib Accused of Spitting at Fan After CDL Championship Elimination

Claims circulated online after Paris Gentle Mates were eliminated from the Call of Duty League Championship in Las Vegas that player Daunte “Sib” Gray spat at an OpTic fan during an altercation. The allegation has not been verified, and it emerged in the hours following the team’s loss to Riyadh Falcons on a night when tempers frayed across the venue.

What exists so far is one account, relayed second-hand, with no confirmation from the league, the organisation or the player.

What Has Been Alleged

Roughly two hours after the claims first surfaced, CDL creator Landen uploaded a video in which he said he had spoken to the fan involved, describing him as a friend. The validity of that account has yet to be confirmed. In the short interview, the person said he had been heckling the player before the incident.

“I understand, because I’m talking s*** about you, you just lost Champs, you’re going home, I just told you to go cry about it later, bitch, and you came back and spit in my face,” he said. “The motherf***er backed up behind Ghosty like a little pussy. I’m over here charging here and I’m trying to fight this f***ing dude, and he’s just backing behind his f***ing teammates. And then security stops me.”

He repeated the claim that Sib spat in his face, saying it was the only reason he escalated further, and characterised his own reaction as showing passion at what he said was his first Call of Duty League event. He also said an event manager approached him afterwards and asked whether he wanted to press charges, which he declined, saying he did not care about the situation.

How the Bracket Played Out

The incident is alleged to have followed Gentle Mates’ exit at the hands of Riyadh Falcons, who put together a strong lower-bracket run that also accounted for Toronto KOI and Heretics before they themselves fell to OpTic Texas. That leaves FaZe Vegas and OpTic Texas contesting the grand final, with users on Polymarket split on which of the two takes the trophy.

Elsewhere in the bracket, LA Thieves finished last after months of buildup that had made them a favourite, and the team’s Scrap posted publicly about a faulty PC he said contributed to crashing out without winning a single series. Between that and the allegation against Sib, a tournament that has otherwise been electrifying has produced a couple of sour notes heading into its final day.
