Naruto Card Game Revealed With Summer 2027 Global Release

Naruto Card Game is getting a simultaneous worldwide release in Summer 2027, and Bandai Card Games has now put the game’s rules, its first card art, and a full pre-release event roadmap into public view. The reveal landed on 29 July 2026, a day before the game makes its world debut at Gen Con 2026 in Indianapolis.
It is a strategy-focused trading card game drawing characters and stories from all three anime series, Naruto, Naruto: Shippuden, and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. As of 30 July 2026, Summer 2027 is the only timing attached to the product, with the launch confirmed as global rather than staggered by region.
What Naruto Card Game Is
Bandai first announced the game in June 2026 with little more than a name and a Gen Con date attached. This week’s reveal is the substance behind it: a deck built around a Leader card, five distinct card types, and a win condition tied to reducing the opposing Leader’s Life to zero.
The source material carries unusual weight behind it. Naruto began serialisation in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999, the TV anime followed in 2002, and the manga closed in 2014 at chapter 700 across 72 volumes, with cumulative worldwide circulation past 250 million copies.
Naruto also follows One Piece into a market Bandai already dominates with the same playbook. Bandai Card Games runs card game titles across more than 50 regions covering North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America, Oceania, and the Middle East, so a Naruto set arrives with distribution already in place rather than needing to be built.
How Naruto Card Game Works
Each player builds a 51-card deck alongside 5 Chakra cards and 1 Summon card, with a Leader card at the centre of the build. The Leader’s colour determines which Character cards and strategies are available, and the match is won by reducing the opposing Leader’s Life to zero.
Characters form the front line and carry out attacks. Getting them onto the field requires resting the Summon card, so with a single Summon card in the deck, deployment is a gated action rather than a free one.
Chakra is the resource layer. Players spend it to pull off Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, and Taijutsu, and to activate support cards that sit face down until they are needed. Ninjutsu is not purely offensive either, and can be triggered to stop an opponent’s attack rather than deal damage.
EX Character cards sit above the standard roster. They become playable only once specific in-match conditions are met, and Bandai describes them as high-impact cards capable of swinging a game.
All Five Naruto Card Game Card Types
Bandai’s breakdown covers five card categories, each with a distinct job during a turn.
| Card Type | Role In Play |
|---|---|
![]() Leader Card | The card the deck is built around. Its colour sets which cards and strategies are available, and the game ends when its Life is brought to zero. |
![]() Character Card | The front line. Character cards execute attacks, and some can unleash Jutsu by paying a Chakra cost. |
![]() EX Character Card | High-impact Characters that unlock only after set match conditions are met. |
![]() Chakra Card | The resource pool, spent to activate Jutsu and other support effects at the moment they are needed. |
![]() Summon Card | Required to bring Character cards into battle. |
The First Cards And Kishimoto’s Artwork
The reveal shipped the game’s first card art, pulled from three places: original illustrations commissioned from a range of artists, artwork taken from the anime, and cards built on original manga art, including designs that call back to specific moments in the series. Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, Boruto Uzumaki, Jiraiya, Tsunade, Orochimaru, and Itachi Uchiha are among the characters shown so far.

Two videos landed alongside the cards, a first look trailer covering the designs and an overview trailer that walks through how the card types interact in a match.
Series creator Masashi Kishimoto supplied a message and a special illustration for the announcement. “I’m glad to see the world of NARUTO grow larger once again,” Kishimoto said, adding that he hoped the cards would find their way to both the hands and the hearts of players.
Where To Play Naruto Card Game Before Launch
Gen Con 2026 in Indianapolis is the world debut, running from 30 July to 2 August 2026. Bandai is running free beginner-friendly Tutorial Sessions at its booth across the show, with participant gift sets and giveaways for attendees.
From there the game moves onto a run of conventions, each carrying Tutorial Sessions and further reveals. New York Comic Con is flagged as the next reveal point, and the October block puts the game in front of players in five countries inside a single month, all before any product is on sale.
| Event | Location | Dates |
|---|---|---|
| Gen Con 2026 | Indianapolis, United States | 30 July to 2 August 2026 |
| New York Comic Con 2026 | United States | 8 to 11 October 2026 |
| PAX Australia 2026 | Australia | 9 to 11 October 2026 |

Two further roadmap milestones sit after the convention run. Additional information is scheduled for December 2026, with in-store Tutorial Sessions rolling out from January 2027. Bandai will post extra event listings to the official site as they are confirmed.
Naruto Card Game Release Date And Post-Launch Plans
The worldwide release is set for Summer 2027, confirmed as a simultaneous global launch rather than a staggered regional rollout. No exact date inside that window has been given, and nothing has been announced about set names, product configuration, or pricing.
Because the launch is simultaneous, New Zealand gets the same date as everywhere else. Read against the Northern Hemisphere calendar Bandai is working from, that places the game on shelves around the middle of 2027 rather than the following December.
Organised play is planned from launch. Bandai says it will run store-level events for players of all skill levels, scaling up through major tournaments to a World Championship. None of that structure has been dated, and none of it begins until the cards reach shelves in Summer 2027.
