Honor of Kings World Cup 2026 Kicks Off 30 July in Paris With $3 Million Prize Pool

Honor of Kings have confirmed that the Honor of Kings World Cup at the 2026 Esports World Cup (KWC at EWC26) begins on 30 July in Paris, France, bringing 20 teams together to compete for the lion’s share of a $3 million USD prize pool. The three-stage competition runs through to the Grand Final on 8 August, and for the first time unites elite teams from both the Honor of Kings and Arena of Valor competitive scenes on the same stage.
Announced on 1 July 2026, the event marks the third year Honor of Kings and Arena of Valor have featured at the Esports World Cup. Chinese squads claimed the title in each of the first two editions, leaving new challengers to break that run in 2026.
KWC at EWC26 Dates And Location
The tournament takes place in Paris, France, from 30 July to 8 August 2026. It runs as part of the wider Esports World Cup 2026, with three competitive stages leading to the Grand Final on 8 August.
A First-Ever Cross-Title Format
KWC at EWC26 introduces a cross-title format that brings Honor of Kings and Arena of Valor onto the same stage for the first time. Matches are played on a dedicated Esports World Cup tournament patch built on Honor of Kings Season 15, a custom version engineered specifically for elite-level competition.
The tournament patch unlocks a roster of 111 playable heroes, assembled specifically for the KWC at EWC26 stage to give teams maximum strategic depth and ban-pick flexibility. The combined pool is designed to open room for fresh meta-shaping strategies and team compositions not seen in either title’s individual circuit.
Beyond the format, KWC at EWC26 expands its regional footprint with teams from India, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Taiwan region joining for the first time, deepening its standing as one of the most international MOBA tournaments on the calendar.

Tournament Format Across Three Stages
KWC at EWC26 unfolds across three stages from 30 July to 8 August. Every match uses Global Ban & Pick, a drafting format that lets teams ban and pick heroes across both sides of the draft for added strategic depth. The Grand Final on 8 August is a best-of-7 series played under the “Ultimate Battle” draft mode.
Play-in Stage
Eight teams split into two groups, playing best-of-3 double-elimination series with Global Ban & Pick. The top two per group advance to the Group Stage.
Group Stage
Sixteen teams across four groups, again playing best-of-3 double-elimination series with Global Ban & Pick. The top two per group qualify for the Playoffs.
Playoffs
Eight teams in single elimination, with best-of-7 series and both Global Ban & Pick and Ultimate Battle drafting. The third-place match is played as a best-of-5.
The Road To EWC 2026
All 20 slots were filled through regional qualifiers completed between January and May 2026. The King Pro League Spring in China and the RoV Pro League 2026 Summer each sent one club, while multi-slot regions included the Philippine Kings League, the Malaysia Kings League, and the Indonesia Kings League with three qualifiers apiece. The Honor of Kings Major League and the Brazil Championship each contributed two clubs, and the King’s Arise India qualifier, held from 8 to 17 May, sent S8UL Esports and Revenant XSpark as the final two teams to claim spots.
Why KWC at EWC26 Matters
Honor of Kings is the world’s most-played MOBA, with the combined monthly active users of its titles surpassing 260 million in 2025. The 2025 World Cup peaked at over 650,000 concurrent viewers, a viewership milestone for the title. With the cross-title patch, the expanded regional field, and a $3 million prize pool on the line, KWC at EWC26 sets up as the largest edition yet when the first stage begins in Paris on 30 July.
