Hatsune Miku Commander Deck Decklist Revealed Ahead of 10 August Secret Lair Drop

Published in full on 4 August 2026, the Hatsune Miku Commander deck decklist runs 100 cards of green-white lifegain led by Trostani, Selesnya’s Voice under the alternate name Miku, Song of the People.

Secret Lair Commander Deck: Hatsune Miku goes on sale on 10 August 2026 at 9am PT for US$149.99, sold only through MagicSecretLair.com. It is the first Universes Beyond Secret Lair Commander deck, designed by Studio X’s Carmen Klomparens, and it lands alongside a change to how Secret Lair sells playable products. Every order placed inside a 24-hour window will be fulfilled, though not every order ships this year.

What Is In The Hatsune Miku Secret Lair Commander Deck

The box holds a ready-to-play 100-card Commander deck, 10 non-foil double-sided tokens, a display commander card, and a deck box. The 100 cards break down into 12 foil borderless cards with new artwork, 14 foil borderless basic lands split evenly between Plains and Forests, and 74 non-foil reprints. With 26 of the 100 cards printed as foil borderless, the new art accounts for a quarter of the deck rather than a headline card or two.

The display commander is a Trostani, Selesnya’s Voice card presented as Miku, Song of the People, and it is not legal in sanctioned play. The playable borderless version sits inside the deck itself.

The deck had been rumoured for some time before its confirmation at MagicCon Amsterdam, helped along by the fact that Hatsune Miku has appeared in several previous Secret Lair drops. This is the first time she has headlined a full precon.

How Miku, Song of the People Plays

Miku, Song of the People gains life whenever another creature enters the battlefield under your control. The deck is built to make that trigger fire constantly, then convert the life total into pressure. With 29 creatures in the list and token producers including Storm Herd, Growing Ranks, Pest Infestation and Song of the Worldsoul, most of the non-creature slots still feed the commander.

The lifegain payoffs are the familiar Selesnya heavy hitters. Archangel of Thune turns each gain into +1/+1 counters across the board, Voice of the Blessed grows every time you gain life, Crested Sunmare supplies indestructible horses, and Mirari’s Wake doubles mana while making creatures bigger. Aetherflux Reservoir is the finisher, converting a bloated life total into direct damage. Archangel of Thune is the standout piece of value in the box, typically selling for around US$60 on the resale market.

Phyrexian Processor is the outlier inclusion, a Phyrexian death engine sitting in a deck themed around a virtual pop concert, and it pays life directly into oversized Minion tokens rather than storing it. Alongside it sits Halo Fountain, reskinned as Cascade of Song, which turns a wide creature board into an alternate win condition. The removal package is short and efficient, running Path to Exile, Swords to Plowshares, Break Down, Sundering Growth and Hour of Reckoning as the mass sweeper.

New Borderless Artwork From KEI, HASSAN And NAOKI SAITO

The deck carries 14 new borderless art treatments from Japanese illustrators, covering 12 spells and the two basic land types. KEI, the artist behind Hatsune Miku’s original software package illustration, drew Miku, Song of the People. That closes a loop the collaboration was built around, since the artist who defined the character’s first commercial image now draws her as the deck’s headline card. Fan-favourite creators 八三/HASSAN and さいとうなおき/NAOKI SAITO are also among the credited artists.

Four of the borderless cards carry renamed treatments, placing Miku or a music reference into the card title. The borderless Plains and Forests show Miku singing beneath blue skies and surrounded by animals, keeping the character present even in the mana base.

Planeswalker-Stamp Reprints And The Token Sheet

Of the 74 non-foil reprints, 72 carry the Planeswalker stamp, the same marking used in Mystery Booster 2 and previous Secret Lair Commander decks to separate product printings from original set printings. Growing Ranks and Phyrexian Processor arrive without it, making them the only two reprints in the box presented as standard printings.

The 10 double-sided tokens use artwork from past Magic releases rather than new Miku art, and they map directly onto the deck’s token producers.

How The 24-Hour Order Window Works

Every order placed between 9am PT on Monday 10 August 2026 and 8:59am PT on Tuesday 11 August 2026 will be fulfilled. That is the core of the change. A limited quantity ships straight away, and everything ordered after that allocation runs out is expected to ship in May 2027 in North America and June 2027 in the EU and the UK. Because the window guarantees fulfilment, the queue no longer decides who gets a deck, only who gets one this year.

Matthew Hodgins, who recently took over as director of Secret Lair after almost 15 years at Wizards, described the sale as an experiment and “a direct response to Goblin Storm”. He previously worked on the Magic Franchise team on releases including Magic: The Gathering FINAL FANTASY, The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth, and Magic: The Gathering Fallout. Wizards says the approach is aimed at meeting demand where it expects demand to be highest, on products that are playable out of the box.

The stated scope is broader than this one deck. Wizards has flagged Commander decks, specialty releases such as the Secret Lair Dandân Deck, and other products combining high demand with out-of-the-box playability as candidates for the same treatment. If the experiment works, those sales could eventually get their own dedicated storefront, in the mould of the Chaos Vault.

The Shipping Catch And The Goblin Storm Problem

Goblin Storm sold out within minutes of launch earlier this year, with collectors watching eBay listings climb while they sat in the queue. The Miku deck holds the same US$149.99 price as Goblin Storm, which means the extended print run is being absorbed by Wizards rather than passed on to buyers.

Rather than cap supply and let the queue sort it out, Wizards has split the drop into two tiers of the same product. That split is where the catch sits. With the next wave of copies not arriving until May 2027, an immediately shipped deck remains the only Miku deck in existence on the secondary market for roughly nine months, so the incentive that drove the Goblin Storm resale spike has been delayed rather than removed. Print-to-demand has previously been reserved for philanthropic Secret Lair campaigns such as Their Magic Is Limitless, which supported the Global Fund for Women, making this the first time the model has been applied to a commercial playable product.

The timing of the decision is the sharpest detail here. According to TheGamer, whose Niall Walsh spoke with Secret Lair principal lead Steve Sunu at MagicCon only weeks earlier, Sunu indicated that major changes to how Secret Lair drops are delivered were unlikely. The reversal landed with less than a week to go before the drop, and Wizards has not said what changed in between or whether the approach extends past this deck.

When The Hatsune Miku Secret Lair Deck Goes Live

The waiting room opens at 8am PT on Monday 10 August, with the purchase queue opening an hour later at 9am PT and the waiting room order randomised at that point. For New Zealand buyers that means the waiting room opens at 3am NZST on Tuesday 11 August, the queue opens at 4am NZST, and the 24-hour window closes at 3:59am NZST on Wednesday 12 August.

Because the announced shipping windows cover North America and the EU and UK only, New Zealand orders falling outside the immediate-ship allocation have no confirmed delivery date, and the US$149.99 price carries no NZD equivalent.
