Fortnite Pollo Sprite: Why the Mythic Companion Is Locked Behind a Stream-Snipe
Fortnite’s newest Mythic companion, the Pollo Sprite, is proving to be the hardest collectible of Chapter 7 Season 3 to actually pin down. Added in the v41.20 “Hot Bat Summer” update but initially locked out of normal loot, the Mythic Sprite was initially locked and couldn’t be obtained by regular players until Epic tied its unlock to a real-world streamer stunt built around competitive pro Miguel “Pollo” Moreno.
That stunt has now come and gone, and the Sprite is only just starting to circulate through the community via trading and eliminations — meaning most players still haven’t seen one in their own inventory.
A Mythic Companion Born From the v41.20 Hot Bat Summer Update
Epic Games rolled out Fortnite’s v41.20 patch, headlined by the DC-themed Hot Bat Summer event, on July 16, 2026, after roughly two hours of scheduled downtime. Alongside new Batman-themed cosmetics and the Air and Seven Sprites, the update quietly seeded a Mythic-rarity companion modeled on a real competitive player rather than a licensed character or in-game hero.
That companion is the Pollo Sprite, named after a Team Falcons pro who has won multiple FNCS titles and is widely regarded as one of the best competitive Fortnite players in the world. According to Wikipedia’s competitive record for the player, Miguel Moreno’s FNCS victories include the 2024 FNCS Global Championship, and his most recent trios win extended a world record fourth in a row, tied with Brazilian Pedro ‘Phzin’ Henrique’s four from 2021–2022.
The Stream-Snipe: How Pollofn6’s July 18 Broadcast Unlocked the Sprite
Rather than dropping straight into standard loot pools, the Pollo Sprite was tied to a live broadcast. As part of Fortnite’s ongoing Shiny Hours promotional format, popular streamer Pollofn6 did a livestream during the Fortnite Shiny Hours event with the Pollo Sprite equipped during a livestream, effectively turning himself into a walking, trackable loot drop for anyone watching.
Game Rant reported that the plan called for players to find and eliminate pro player and FNCS winner Pollo (Miguel Moreno) during his stream commencing on Saturday, July 18, at 2 PM CST / 3 PM ET, with the same report noting Pollo plays on the NA Central server region. Anyone who managed to track him down, eliminate him and extract before the match ended became one of the first holders of the Sprite in the wild.
Players who managed to stream snipe him were then able to extract the Mythical sprite, and from there, it’s now been traded by thousands of players, according to Vice’s tracking of the event’s aftermath. Game Rant added that once the first copies were extracted, the Sprite was expected to likely start appearing on other servers as it spread through trading and further eliminations.
Trading and Elimination Remain the Only Confirmed Routes for Now
Despite plenty of guides describing standard chest routes for the Sprite, the clearest public accounting of its actual availability is more restrictive. Vice’s tracker states plainly that at the time of writing, the only way to get the Pollo Sprite is through trading, and for now, the only known way to get the Mythic Sprite is to eliminate the streamer and extract with it or trade with another player who successfully obtains one.
It also remains genuinely unclear whether Epic intends to widen access further. The same report notes the Pollo Sprite can potentially spread between players through trading, it should gradually become easier to find after its July 18 debut, and the outlet will update its guide if Epic Games reveals another way to unlock it or makes the Sprite available through regular gameplay.
Game Rant separately flagged a possible future route through Extraction Gizmos, reporting that the Pollo Sprite is a possible drop from the Sprite Locator Chest and Lucky Locator Chest, though the chance of the Pollo Sprite dropping from the Sprite Locator is currently set to 1.01% and has not been enabled in the loot pool just yet. Until Epic confirms otherwise, players chasing the companion are largely at the mercy of the trade market or a lucky elimination against a carrier.
What the Pollo Sprite Does Once You Actually Have One
The payoff is a combat-focused shield perk. Per its official in-game description on Fortnite.GG, equipping the Sprite means that upon earning an elimination, it slowly replenishes shield for you and nearby squad members for a duration, with duration increasing at each Level Up: 6 Seconds, 7 Seconds, 8 Seconds, 9 Seconds, up to 10 Seconds at maximum level.
It shares its Mythic tier with the Vini Jr Sprite — modeled on Brazilian footballer Vinícius Júnior — as one of two pro-athlete-inspired companions to enter the game in the same patch. Beebom’s breakdown of the v41.20 changes to Sprite Chests confirms Epic also tweaked the wider loot pool at the same time, guaranteeing Epic, Legendary, or Mythic Sprite, or a higher-rarity variant from every Sprite Chest opened this season, even if the Pollo Sprite itself sits outside that guaranteed pool for now.
The Time-Zone Problem for Australian and Kiwi Players
The NA Central timing of Pollofn6’s original broadcast — mid-afternoon in the US — landed in the middle of the night for most of Australia and New Zealand, ruling out any realistic chance of local players stream-sniping the drop directly. For ANZ squads chasing the shield-regen companion, trading with international contacts or waiting for a wider elimination pool to spread the Sprite organically remains the far more practical path than hoping to cross servers into a since-ended livestream window.
