EWC 2026 CS2 Last Chance Qualifier Groups Confirmed as 64 Teams Chase Four Spots

Liquid, HEROIC, BC.Game, 100 Thieves, NRG and Virtus.pro have all landed in the EWC 2026 CS2 Last Chance Qualifier groups, drawn alongside 58 other sides chasing the final four places at the $2 million Esports World Cup Counter-Strike 2 tournament. As of 4 August the field is locked at 64 teams after the registration window closed, split into 16 double-elimination groups of four ahead of a three-day LAN qualifier that starts on 7 August.

Four teams come out. The other 60 go home, and every series from the opening round to the last playoff match is a best-of-three.

How the EWC 2026 CS2 Last Chance Qualifier Works

The qualifier is played entirely on LAN across three days. The 64 registered teams sit in 16 double-elimination groups of four, with the top two from every group advancing into a single-elimination playoff bracket. Only four teams get through that bracket and onto the main event roster.

Sixteen groups sending two teams each puts 32 sides into the playoffs, and with four qualification spots on offer, a team needs three straight best-of-three wins to book its place. Nobody has to win the bracket outright, but nobody gets a second life once the group stage ends either, so a squad that drops its opening series has to grind out the losers’ route and then survive a bracket where a single defeat closes the run.

Groups to Watch in the LCQ Draw

Group K is the heaviest draw on paper, putting 100 Thieves and Eternal Fire in the same four-team bracket alongside NADEGMNG and SadFamous. Group C carries a similar weight, with DENDELE, EAC and SAW all drawn together and QueenConso completing the four.

BC.Game open in Group F against 1win, BASEMENT BOYS and Citron Esport. HEROIC sit in Group G with 9INE, ABT and REM. Liquid landed in Group L next to Metizport, Prestige and Dhala Esport, while NRG face Acend, Spirit Esports and Vandulken in Group N.

Virtus.pro headline Group P alongside JiJieHao, Zeste Esport and Sangal. BIG take Group B with Fluxo, DUSTY and z to forward, and Group H pairs fnatic with Gentle Mates, FKOMAR_FPL-C and 6666.

Community Reaction to the Draw

The draw was pushed out through the tournament’s EWC Extra account on X, which framed the qualifier as the last chance to reach the main stage and asked which four teams would make it out. Replies gravitated to BC.Game, with fans arguing the organisation reaching the main event would pull viewership numbers in the millions. Portuguese fans backed SAW, and supporters of Orion Wanderers reacted to seeing their team in the field with surprise and celebration in equal measure.

Others asked whether the group draw used Valve Regional Standings seeding. No seeding method has been published alongside the groups.

Why Liquid, HEROIC and Virtus.pro Are in the Qualifier at All

All 28 teams eligible for direct invitations through the Valve Regional Standings accepted their places at the main event, filling every invited slot before the open qualifier registration even closed. The Esports World Cup’s international profile, the $2 million on offer in the Counter-Strike tournament and the prize money attached to the Club Championship all fed into that clean sweep of acceptances.

That 100 percent acceptance rate is exactly why the Last Chance Qualifier looks the way it does. Liquid, HEROIC, 100 Thieves, NRG, BC.Game and Virtus.pro are in the open bracket because they sat outside the 28-team VRS invitation cut, which leaves a qualifier stacked with established organisations grinding against regional squads for the same four tickets.

The qualifier opens on 7 August and runs for three days, with the four survivors completing the 32-team main event field.
