Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos Remaster Announced for PS5, Xbox, Switch, PS4 and PC

Argonaut Games has announced a remastered version of Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos, bringing the 1999 platformer to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Switch and PC via Steam and GOG. No release date was given, and the announcement arrived with a reveal trailer.

It follows the same studio’s remaster of the original game last year.

What the Remaster Includes

Like the Croc: Legend of the Gobbos remaster that Argonaut released in 2025, the sequel will feature a Crocpedia, an in-game archive collecting design documents, interviews with the development team, the soundtrack and a look at content that never made it into the finished game. That archival material was one of the more distinctive parts of the first remaster’s package.

How the First Remaster Landed

Expectations are worth tempering. TheSixthAxis‘ review of the Croc: Legend of the Gobbos remaster called it “a good look at how 3D platformers were put together in the 90s” while judging that “the gameplay falls seriously short of modern standards”, concluding there was “just so much that could be better when it comes to the gameplay that would have made the experience more tolerable and enjoyable, but what we have is a bang average 3D platformer.”

Whether the sequel’s remaster addresses any of that is unknown, since Argonaut has not detailed gameplay changes beyond the Crocpedia. With no release date attached, the trailer is all there is to go on for now.
